The Care Team

The mission of our Care Team is to uphold the Biblical mandate to “love one another as Christ has loved us” (John 15:12) and to “Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2).

The Care Team is a group of clergy and lay volunteers who can provide support to those in need. We offer presence, a compassionate and informed ear, and a deep desire to help. We bring awareness of resources, inside and outside the church, that may be available to provide support. In that regard, we can connect parishioners with people (clergy, layperson, professional) and agencies (nonprofit, community, or government) that may be able to assist in times of need. Team members are not therapists, but they can make calls and walk with those who are ill, grieving, or struggling with difficult times.

The Care Team is coordinated by Deacon Mark Summers. In addition to his roles as Deacon and as Business Manager for the Church, Mark is a spiritual director and care ministry leader. He is available by phone or email and will arrange to meet with you to help assess concerns and needs, and make appropriate recommendations and/or referrals to carefully screened counselors or resources in the community.
